Tips when emailing your resume

Do...

  • Use a professional sounding email address.
  • Make your subject line informative. Never leave it blank
  • Write a short message that includes the position you are interested in, your name, and your contact information.
  • Attach your resume as a text-only or Microsoft Word file.
  • If sending your resume as an attachment, include your last name as part of the filename.
  • Keep your email professional. Don't use the emoticons and abbreviations that are so often used in everyday e-mails.
  • Use spell check
  • Scan your attachment for viruses before sending

Do Not...

  • Leave the body of the email message blank.
  • Attach your resume as a .zip, .pdf or .wps file
  • Use all caps in your email
  • Include images or backgrounds in your email
  • Use fancy fonts or different colored text in your email
  • Send your resume for every job we have posted. If you are interested in more than one position, specify that in your email.
